"He Is Risen" Art Journal Page by Tracey Sabella

Hi everyone. It's Tracey here to share a new project. For the past year I've been creating pages for a Scripture Art Journal using Donna's fabulous Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® Denim Art Journal. I'm adding an Easter page with delicate spring colors featuring Donna's new Spellbinders® Cascading Butterflies die.

Tips and Techniques
There is a beautiful pink/orange color in the background paper flowers that I wanted to pick up for the embellishments, so I mixed wine, pink, and gold pigment powders into a dollop of Donna's Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® Girlie Grunge Art Medium and used it to "paint" the Cascading Buterflies cut from a manilla folder. They are adhered to the page with Girlie Grunge Art Medium (uncolored).

One of the great things about this die is that you not only get the Cascading Butterflies, but also get a bevy of little butterflies at the same time. I used them two ways. A few were spritzed with Mixed Berries Smooch Spritz and went back into the spots from which they were cut. Next, I stamped a couple flourished butterflies on the page with Donna's Wisteria Colorbox® Mix'd Media Inx. I colored two of the die cut butterflies with the Pigment Powder "paint" and placed them over the stamped images. I adhered the centers of the butterflies and lifted the wings for dimension.

For texture, I applied light molding paste with a stencil and spritzed with Mixed Berries Smooch Spritz and allowed the mist to dry. I had some leftover pigment powder "paint" that I spattered across the butterflies and textured areas and also spattered with white drawing ink.

The sentiment is stamped with Wisteria Mix'd Media Inx.

To add a bit of sparkle, I applied Clearsnap® Glue Gloss to the center of the grungy round images and sprinkled with Donna's Clearsnap® Pralines & Cream Twinkle Dust Glitter.

Thanks for dropping by! I hope you've been inspired to grab your Donna Salazar goodies and create a mixed media project.

Girlie Grunge Mixed Media Recipe Holder by Tracey Sabella

Hi everyone! It's Tracey here to share my latest project with Donna's gorgeous products. I've altered this oversized clothespin as a recipe holder. Simply clip a recipe into the clothespin to keep it in plain site while cooking. I've featured Donna's Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® Pigment Powders and 3D Foam Swirls along with her Spellbinders Rose Creations, Bitty Blossoms, and a layered butterfly created with her brand new Cascading Butterflies die scheduled to be released this spring.

Tips and Techniques
This sweet layered flower is cut with two of Donna's dies. The bottom layers are cut from a canvas flag in Donna's Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® Pennant Set using her Rose Creations Dies. I've inked the canvas with her Denim and Indigo Colorbox® Mix'd Media Inx®. The center flower is cut with Donna's Bitty Blossoms die. I adhered the flower to the clothespin with Donna's Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® Dodz™ XL. I just adore how all of Donna's flower dies can be layered to create an endless assortment of different blossoms.

Donna's new Cascading Butterflies die cuts a gorgeous outline of a whole cluster of sweet butterflies and also produces a bunch of little butterflies. I layered the smaller book page butterfly, which I inked with Indigo Mix'd Media Inx® over a slightly larger one cut from a manilla folder and inked with Butternut Mix'd Media Inx® CHOX.

Here you can see the background nicely. I adhered a piece of patterned paper to the clothespin and brushed it with clear gesso. Then I mixed Donna's Blue, Rose, and Silver Pigment Powders into Whipped Spackle which I applied to the background with a floral stencil. I misted with Donna's Caramel Latte Clearsnap® Smooch Spritz. I also added a little splatter with white drawing ink.

Here I'm wearing my adhesive on the outside by covering Donna's 3D Foam Swirl with her Clearsnap® Twinkle Dust Glitter. To darken and grunge it up a bit, I brushed on Caramel Latte and Sea Breeze Smooch Spritz.

I painted these chipboard letters with a coat of white gesso, then brushed with Donna's blue and silver pigment powders mixed with matte medium. I mixed them separately, then lightly stirred the two colors together so there would be color variations on the letters. I heat set, then dry brushed very lightly with gesso.

One final shot.

I hope you've been inspired to grab your stash of Donna's supplies
and create a girlie grunge mixed media project.

Mixed Media Scripture Journal Page by Tracey Sabella

Hi everyone. It's Tracey here to share a new page for my Scripture journal. I simply adore working with Donna's Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® Denim Art Journal. The extra thick chipboard pages are a dream to work with and hold up perfectly for mixed media techniques. I feature Donna's new Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® Girlie Grunge Twine and Gauze along with her new wine and silver Pigment Powders.

"Be of Good Cheer"

Tips and Techniques
I created these twine flowers using Donna's new navy and aqua Girlie Grunge Twine. I'm working on a video tutorial demonstrating how to make these sweet flowers, so stay tuned! I sprinkled Donna's Clearsnap Mixed Berries Twinkle Dust Glitter onto Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® ~ DODZ™ - 3D to create these sparkling centers. The twine flowers are layered onto flowers created with Donna's Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® Girlie Grunge Gauze. Donna's Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® Dodz™ XL are perfect to adhere them to the page.

The sentiment is stamped onto white cardstock with Donna's Clearsnap black Mix'ed Media Inx, then edged with a blend of Donna's Indigo and Schoolhouse Mix'd Media Inx.

I adore creating my own paint with Donna's Pigment Powders and mixed up a custom aqua color by combining her blue and gold powders to brush over the gauze and resin flowers.

This metal feather charm is brushed with white gesso, then dry brushed with more of my pigment powder paint. I added silver pigment powder to the aqua to achieve this darker blue.

I adhered a few strips of a dictionary page to the background and brushed the entire page with white gesso.

I cut a couple odd shaped pieces from Donna's Girlie Grunge Gauze, which I spritzed with water and distressed. When dry I adhered it to the page for added texture. I lightly brushed with my aqua Pigment Powder "paint", then dry brushed with white gesso to soften and to highlight the textures.

Here's another shot of the gauze.

I stenciled texture paste across the right side of the page. While it was drying, I mixed up a blend of Donna's Clearsnap Mixed Berries and Holly Berries Smooch Spritz along with her Wine and Silver Pigment Powders to create this rich wine color. Once the molding paste was dry, I spritzed with water, then brushed with the wine water color mixture allowing the color to spread and pool. While wet, I sprinkled and rubbed with blue pigment powder.

I also mixed together a blend of Sea Breeze Smooch Spritz and silver Pigment Powders which I applied at the edges of the wine color, again spritzing with water, to move and create lovely color variations as it dried.

On the left side of the page, I applied these same colors, but used a palette knife to scrape the color across the corner, spritzing lightly with water as I applied the color.

I also randomly splashed a little of the color onto the white center of the page.

I hope you've been inspired to grab your Girlie Grunge products
and mix them together to create a mixed media project.

Snowflake Gift Box by Tracey Sabella

Hi everyone. It's Tracey back to share a new project with you.

It's that time of year when we are thinking and planning gifts for the special people in our lives. Today I'm sharing a wooden gift box I created that would be perfect for jewelry or a gift card. Donna's fabulous products were so much fun to work with on this girlie grunge snowflake box.

Tips and Techniques
I started off by painting this sweet wooden snowflake box with white gesso, then spritzed with Donna's Clearsnap Sea Breeze Smooch Spritz and then with water to lighten and spread the mist. While still damp, I used a soft, dry cloth to remove some of the mist from the snowflake to distress. When the mist was completely dry, I spritzed with a fixative to set the color.

I dabbed Clearsnap Glue Gloss on the snowflake edges and sprinkled with Donna's Clearsnap Sugar Shimmer Twinkle Dust Glitter to add a touch of girlie sparkle.

I lightly sprinkled Donna's Jasmine Mix'd Media Inx Embossing Powder over one of her Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® Foam Swirls and heat set. Because I did not completely cover the swirl with embossing powder, it was still tacky. I sprinkled on some of the Sugar Shimmer Twinkle Dust Glitter and adore the girlie grunge effect.

I created this little rose using Donna's Spellbinders Bitty Blossoms Die and added a couple tiny roses from my stash. The leaves and flowers are held in place with DODZ™.

I rubbed Donna's Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® Gold Pigment Powder across her E-Z Stars, then scattered them across the top half of the box. Then I applied molding paste through a stencil to look like snow.

Originally there was red ribbon looped through holes at the top of the box for handles. I replaced it with Donna's Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® organza ribbon from her Texture Ribbon's pack. I twisted it with white twine.

Here's one final look.

I hope you've been inspired to create a holiday project with Donna's girlie grunge products.

"Come Unto Me" Art Journal Page by Tracey Sabella

Hi everyone! It's Tracey here to share the latest addition to my Scripture art journal.

Donna's fabulous products are so versatile. It's so easy to switch gears from the bold and colorful page I posted recently to this subtle and nearly monochromatic page full of rugged textures. The thick chipboard pages in Donna's Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® are fabulous for mixed media.

"Come Unto Me"

Tips and Techniques
Donna's Clearsnap Mix'd Media Inx are so fabulous to work with. Here I've stamped the sentiment on basic white cardstock with Stormy Mix'd Media Inx, then heat set with clear embossing powder. I like to stamp first then die cut so I can center the sentiment in the die before cutting. A piece of washi tape will keep it in place. Once cut, I used my Foam Blending Tool to rub more of the Stormy ink across the die cut.

The background around the sentiment and the page edges are brushed with Donna's Clearsnap Woodstain Smooch Spritz, then spritzed with water to lighten and move the color.

I scored a vintage dictionary at our library book sale a couple months ago and used it to create one of Donna's Spellbinders Bitty Blossom flowers. It's rubbed lightly with Stormy Mix'd Media Inx to color.

In keeping with the monochromatic look for my journal page, I very lightly sprinkled Donna's Black and Jasmine Mix'd Media Inx Embossing powder over her Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® Foam Swirls and heat set. Because I used a light hand with the embossing powder, the swirls were still just a little tacky in places, so I sprinkled Donna's Clearsnap Sugar Shimmer Twinkle Dust Glitter to add a girly, sparkly touch. I also rubbed the edges lightly with Stormy Mix'd Media Inx.

I distressed the lace after snipping off the lower edge and kept it the natural color.

I wanted a hint of textured color on my chipboard flower to draw my eye to the sentiment. I mixed Donna's Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® Pigment powders into whipped spackle and dabbed it onto the chipboard with a brush to create this lovely texture. You may be thinking, Donna doesn't have green pigment powder?? Blue plus gold and a tiny bit of brown mixed together created this lovely green color. It's hard to capture in a photo, but there is a lovely shimmer on the flower and leaves from the mica powder. Once dry, I rubbed lightly with Stormy Mix'd Media ink to highlight the texture.

My background paper is from the corner of a 12 x 12" patterned paper. I just adore the textured patterns in the corner, so added similar stamping and shading around the page edge for a finished look.

I hope you've been inspired to experiment with Donna's Girlie Grunge products
to create your own one of a kind textures and colors.

Christmas Card & Layout by ~Donna Salazar

Hello my peeps! I've been crazy busy with preparations for CHA so it was nice to be able to take a break and make a layout and card using some of my favorite products from Spellbinders®, Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® and Clearsnap® with "Dear Santa" papers and stickers from my friends at Photoplay™.

The first project I'm sharing is this 8.5"x11" layout with a photo of me and my bestie with my daughter that was taken TEN YEARS AGO!!! My how time has just flown by!!!

In the close up below you can see some matte splatters and some glittery splatters. I pressed my Mix'd Media Inx pad onto a non stick craft sheet then blended with water and used a fan brush to splatter. I then watered down some white acrylic paint and used the same brush to splatter that. While the paint was still wet I sprinkled my Twinkle Dust Glitter in Sugar Shimmer over it and I got 2 different types of splatters. I also added some of my E-Z Stars with the same glitter.

I added a little Girlie Grunge touch with my denim ribbon on the strip as well as a rolled denim ribbon flower.

I made a couple of Bitty Blossoms out of white card stock and then I spritzed one with Holly Berries Smooch Spritz to create the little sparkly deep red rose and then I added some of my Carnation Creations die cuts to the Bitty Blossom.

I had a ton of fun with all the stickers that came in the "Dear Santa" paper pack.

Making the card was SUPER easy!!! I just cut one of the 12x12 papers down to size, distressed the edges, inked them with Mix'd Media Inx CHOX, then added a bit of white paint to the edges. I then splattered the back ground with a little bit of the same paint watered down a bit then sprinkled with Twinkle Dust Glitter while all the paint was still wet.

I added a piece of burlap from my Texture Ribbons pack and a piece of scalloped denim from my Denim Ribbons pack both from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L®. I added 3 Bitty Blossoms and adhered a few stickers and this card was done!

In the close up photo below you can see the inked edges with glittery paint edges and splatters really well. The stickers are also from the "Dear Santa" paper line.
