Bridal Shower Card by ~ Tracey Sabella

It's Tracey here to share a card I created for a dear friend's bridal shower featuring lot's of Donna's girlie grunge goodies!!

Tips and Techniques

Donna's Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L 3D Foam Keys are so fun to work with. There are so many techniques that work with them. I heat embossed them with Jasmine Mix'd Media Embossing Powder for texture, then rubbed them with Donna's Gold Pigment Powder from Scrapbooking Adhesives by 3L. This shimmery powder give them a grungy metallic effect. Finally the card is splattered with white gesso adding even more texture. 

My focal flowers are hand crafted using Donna's products and Spellbinders Bitty Blossoms dies. A tutorial for my Whispy Burlap Flower using Donna's Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L Texture Ribbons (Burlap) can be found HERE.

Here's a side view. I've cut a piece of Donna's Lace Ribbons from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L down the middle and tucked it into one of the stitched layers. 

Here's a shot of the card top. I've stenciled textured butterflies at the top and used Mix'd Media Inx to color Donna's organza Texture Ribbon. I cut the ribbon into a thinner strip, heat embossed to crinkle. Finally I dabbed both the ribbon and the berry sprigs with Clearsnap Glue Gloss and sprinkled with Donna's Clearsnap Twinkle Dust Glitter.

Hello friends! Spring has sprung and I am busy with floral cards. This time some shabby with mixed media.

I embossed the background then applied Donna's blue Pigment Powder by Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L, then I took the beautiful ribbons, flowers and even made textile flowers using Spellbinder's Dies, and here you go,  just pop something on the top, and you've got great texture

 I also stamped on the background with a grid stamp and sprinkled some microbeads around.

I wanted to keep the monochromatic look, so only blue and white. What are your colors for the spring?

"Cherish Family" Layout by ~ Tracey Sabella

Hi everyone, it's Tracey back to share a wedding layout I created for some dear friends of our daughter. Micah is blessed to have three sweet children, and this is one of their favorite photos of them all together during the ceremony by Glacier Lake in Montana. 

I wanted the focus to be on this sweet photo, so I went with a monochromatic background filled with textured girlie grunge elements.

Tips and Techniques

I've used white on white elements accented with silver. The bow is created with Donna's Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L Texture Ribbons (organza) To achieve a narrower ribbon for my bow, I cut a length of it in half, trimmed off the edging, then tied it into a triple loop bow. To get the grungy curled effect, I used a heat tool on the bow, being careful not to get too close to the ribbon for too long. I centered a crystal and silver button on the bow and tucked a couple jewelry charms beneath that are appropriately printed with the love verse from I Corinthians 13:4.

The Roses are created with Donna's Rose Creations dies and voile fabric. I created a tutorial for similar, Crushed Voile Peonies HERE. They are made the same way as the peonies, but using Rose Creation dies instead. If you number the dies from smallest to largest, I've used dies 4, 5, and 6 for the larger roses (the 3 largest dies in the set) and dies 4 and 5 for the smaller roses. I've filled the centers with stamens which can be found in the bridal section of most craft stores. The voile is found in the home decor section with the sheer fabrics used for curtains. I've also tucked in a Bitty Blossom flower, and my tutorial for these gems can be found HERE.

A close-up of one of my roses. I've used Donna's Zutter Distrezz-it-All on my layered edges. I've not found another distressing tool that makes such gorgeous distressed edges and so quickly too. People think I've used some kind of special paper because the distressing makes the paper look so thick.

I adore using Donna's Clearsnap Mix'd Media Inx Embossing Powders. To get a girlie grunge effect on the chipboard, I dabbed with Donna's Clearsnap Emboss Gloss, then sprinkled on Jasmine embossing powder ever so lightly, so the bare chipboard would show through. You'll see the same treatment on other chipboard pieces around the page. 

Below the photo, I've layered a piece of Donna's fabulous Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L Lace Ribbons. To grunge it up, I put a dab of Stormy Mix'd Media Inx Reinker on my craft mat and spritzed it with water, then pulled the lace through the inky puddle to color it. If you don't have the reinkers, you could get a similar effect by rubbing your ink pad on your mat, then spritz it with water. I used a paint brush to spatter and drip the excess ink onto my background. I've also used several of Donna's stamps to embellish the background as well.

"Two" Journal Page with Video Tutorial by ~ Misty Russell

Hi everyone! I'm back to share another page for the journal I'm creating for a sweet family that lost their son earlier this year. This page is a tribute to both Braeden and his beautiful girlfriend Caroline (you can read a little about their story here.)

While I didn't personally get to know Braeden. I feel like I've gotten a glimpse into his life through the stories that his family shares.

Because their mothers were best friends, Braeden and Carolines relationship seemed even more special than the average "boy meets girl" story. They literally knew each other their entire lives and had a great friendship before becoming girlfriend and boyfriend.

One of my favorite pics that they have shared is one where Braeden was just a little guy and Caroline was still in diapers. I can only imagine the trouble they had gotten into as little babes. :)

They were such a cute couple, and even though I didn't get a chance to know either of them their story has impacted my heart forever...

Happy Easter!!! "He Is Risen" by ~Donna

Happy Easter my peeps! I'm so excited to share this project with you. After I make each new project I feel like it is my new favorite but I honestly feel that this will be one of my favorites for a long time... not only because I like the project but because of the meaning behind it. I know that there are a lot of crosses that have Christ on it but I like the empty crosses because, YES, what he did on the cross was amazing and I am so grateful that he died for me... BUT, He got off that cross and he rose again. It is one thing to die for your beliefs, for your family, or for your friends, but there is only ONE person who defeated death and it is because of Him that I am forgiven! I hope that you all have a wonderful Easter weekend and that you get to spend it with the people you love most!!!

 I embellished with my Bitty Blossoms from Spellbinders with some of my lace and Gold Pigment Powder from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L™ I also used Crafty Power Tape to adhere the lace, Dodz™ 3D to adhere the flowers, and 3D Foam Squares to adhere the crown.

I've been using watercolor pencils for the shadowing on my canvases but I used a Spectrum Noir alcohol ink pen on this canvas and I LOVE the way it turned out!!!

 The wonderful woodgrain in the background was made using Hazel and Ruby's DIY Decor Tape Wooden Grain. I also used some of their letter stencils and shapes for the word "Risen".

 I love how the peeled paint technique looks over the wood grain!

I made the crown by cutting up some crown dies that I cut out with an older Spellbinders die.

"It's the Little Things" card by ~ Elena Olinevich

Hello crafters, since the Spring has officially come to us, I am digging into spring related projects, and cards too.

This card is quite easy, but I enjoyed creating the background with the pigments. I stamped and heat embossed my background, then played with blue and brown pigments.

I used Donna's Dies and cut the flowers and leaves from Texture and Organza Ribbons, and after I just used those fabric scraps to create the layers on the card

I really love using fabric and textile on my projects, and I guess the most magic thing is to combine them with the embellishments and paints.

What about you? Do you like to use something soft and textile?

Believe in Fairies - Art Journal Page ~ by Mistra Hoolahan

Hi lovelies!  Today I have a lighthearted art journal page to share with you. I love winged things and hope to fill this journal with loads of them!  When my son was a toddler we used to tell him that the sparkles that would bounce off the crystals hanging in the window were fairies... for years he believed, it's one of my favourite memories, him laughing at the fairies.

First for this one I layered strips of texture using Donna's Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L Texture Ribbons {Burlaps & Organza} and Lace Ribbons, and then added some clear texture with some blended fibres medium. Once dried I added my colour, starting by dabbing on some Chiffon Mix'd Media Inx ReInker. I helped this blend and run slightly by spraying it directly with water. The pages in the Denim Art Journal are thick enough to withstand this! Next I sprayed Smooch Spritz in Caramel Latte, Cashmere and Candle Glow, adding this from the top so it could run down.

The sweet little chipboard dress-forme was covered in Donna's Canvas Ribbon and Texture Ribbon {Burlap} from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L. I made her little skirt with some offcuts from Crafty Chronicles. Her wings were cut from Canvas Ribbon as well using Donna's Wonderful Wings Die by Spellbinders. She was then coloured using Caramel Latte, Cashmere and Candle Glow Smooch Spritz and her bodice sparkled up using Donna's Twinkle Dust Glitter from Clearsnap.

She's surrounded with bright yellow flowers that I made with Donna's Rose Creations Die by Spellbinders and then it was all nestled on one of Donna's Canvas Flags from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L Pennant Set. I finished it all off with some sequins and some splatters if brown ink - I created a little bottle of ink using Donna's Leather Mix'd Media Inx Reinker mixed with some water.

Take Me Deeper - Power Of The Spirit by ~Donna

Hello my peeps! I'm a little late posting the pics for this week's canvas for the Take Me Deeper project for His Kingdom Come. I used one of my favorite background techniques made with my Smooch Spritz from Clearsnap. This stuff does amazing things on untreated canvas and also when spritzed over acrylic paint. When you use it with water you can get the most amazing swirly effects.

The month of March is all about the journey to the cross. This week was when Jesus was tempted for 40 days and 40 nights then returned in the Power of the Spirit. I tried to show both night and day on this canvas with the darker blue and the stars on the left symbolizing the night. 

In the photo below you can see the swirls from the Smooch Sprit. The damask was made from a DecoArt stencil and Liquitex Ceramic Stucco texture paste. The stars were made with my E-Z Stars from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L™ and my Twinkle Dust glitter from Clearsnap.

 The birds were made with Ceramic Stucco texture paste from Liquitex then colored with a glaze made from my Pigment Powder in Gold from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L™ and Beacon's Fast Finish Decoupage.

When you use Smooch Spritz and water over wet acrylic paint then dry it with a heat gun you can get some really cool crackle effects on your projects. You can see how I got some crackle in the center of the canvas and some bubbling too.
