Mother's Day Card by ~ Tracey Sabella

Hi, it's Tracey here to share my latest project featuring Donna's amazing girlie grunge products. Mother's Day will be here before you know it. I hope you will find inspiration in this card I created for my mom.

Tips and Techniques
I created this Wispy Burlap Flower using Donna's Scrapbooking Adhesives by 3L Texture Ribbons (Burlap) and centered it with a Spellbinders Bitty Blossoms Flower. A tutorial for these burlap flowers can be found HERE.

Here's a side view of the Wispy Burlap Flower and a better view of the Bitty Blossoms flowers I tucked in.

Here's a view of the lower flower cluster. You can also see how I've layered the die cuts below the butterfly. I've run a strip of Donna's Textured Ribbons (Organza) and ribbon through one of the die cut layers. I folded the organza ribbon to fit the die cut slot and the looped lace covers the edges that meet in the center of the ribbon. I adore how this ribbon strip softens the card.

Another view of this cluster with another of my Bitty Blossoms flowers. I've added texture to the background with a stencil and molding paste, then colored around the clusters with Donna's Sea Breeze Smooch Spritz. Once dry, I splattered with thinned gesso. You can see here how I distressed the card edges with Donna's Zutter Distrezz-it-All.

I embrace the concept that it's a woman's prerogative to change her mind. (Creatively speaking, that is!! lol) So I keep a ziplock bag of unused die cuts along with items left from creating tutorials like this sweet glittery butterfly. I only had to cut one more layer for the stacked die cuts, so this card came together pretty quickly.

I've inked the edges of the dark layers with Clearsnap Jasmine Mix'd Media Inx and the light layers with Denim. Each of the die cuts is separated by Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L Foam Squares for added dimension.

The edges of the butterfly are inked with Denim Mix'd Media Inx. I then dabbed the inked edges with Clearsnap Glue Gloss and sprinkled with Mixed Berries Twinkle Dust Glitter. A step by step photo tutorial for this sweet butterfly can be found HERE.

I hope you've been inspired to grab your girlie grunge Donna Salazar products to create a card for your mom, grandmother, or someone who has been a role model to you.

Thanks for stopping by today!

~ Blessings ~

Do What Makes Your Soul Sing - Art Journal Page, by Mistra Hoolahan

Hi lovelies! Mistra here with you again today, sharing a page from my "Create" Journal I shared a few weeks ago. You can see the front cover in this post HERE. I love creating art journal, mixed media, girlie grunge pages... the process is fabulous. You just start by dabbling and then somehow it's all finished, like it almost created itself!

My base for this was one of the pages from Donna's Denim Art Journal, they are thick and chunky, so can handle anything I'm going to throw at it!

I created this one at 'scrap camp' this weekend just gone. A couple of lovely girls sitting across from me often work on ATC's and always have such amazing techniques for backgrounds. I decided to try one for this. It was so simple! Crunch up some tissue, it could be plain or printed and adhere it to your base. Trim your edges, swipe on some embossing ink and then embossing powder and heat. The embossing gets stuck on all the ridges and creates this gorgeous effect.

I've used some Leather Mix'd Media Inx Embossing Powder for this one as I loved the shine it gave. I then added some more colour, using Mix'd Media Inx in Green Olive and Caramel Latte, with a touch of River Mossy.

I created some flowers using some brown and green cardstock, cut using Donna's Rose Creations Die and a canvas butterfly using her Wonderful Wings Die, it was cut from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L Pennant Set Canvas.

Once all my embellishments were adhered, I gave everything a lick of dry brushed gesso, it helps all the embellishments to blend in with one another, especially handy when your colours are all quite bold and you wanted a more subtle look like I did for this piece.

My final messy touch was rubbing in some Peridot Mix'd Media Inx ReInker. I just added a small drop from the ReInker bottle in the spots I wanted the colour and mixed it through with my finger, easy peasy!

The little typed word labels were inked with Peridot and Honey Mix'd Media Inx, helping the white not be so stark against the background.

Thanks for stopping by today!

CHA Up-cycled Denim Apron - by Mistra Hoolahan

Hi again lovelies... I have some more CHA yummies to share with you today!

I really can't remember being so excited about a NEW release as I have this one.  I love adding textiles to my work and to have all these fabulous clean, but grungy elements waiting to be played with and transformed got my mojo running again!  Hey, I even got the sewing machine out!

When I opened my parcel of the NEW releases by Donna Salazar with Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L there was instant love!  The NEW Pennant Set with Denim Sheets and Canvas Flags were just what I'd been waiting for to finish this up-cycled denim apron I started about 8 months ago!

I frayed the edges of the sheets and banners a little to match the very frayed uneven edges of my apron.  {Can't sew a straight line equals distressed and frayed edges as a unique Mistra style, and I like it like that - LOL}

I stitched the Denim Sheets and Canvas Flags together onto some of the NEW Lace Ribbons, and then have stitched this to my apron.  Aside from fraying edges, I've kept the finish clean... mainly because this apron is going to have it's own colours added as I work in it!  It will never look this clean again, I'm sure.

I created this cute little flower from some of the NEW Canvas Ribbons, this blue one is lovely and soft, like old worn chambray... it's beautiful to work with.

And I also created another flower in the same design style, using the NEW organza ribbon from the Texture Ribbons.  It's a lovely soft organza, so it too worked so well for creating the handmade flower!

I'm still creating away with all the new products, pushing how grungey I can make all these gorgeous textiles... so far, they're holding up to everything I can throw at them, love it!!   If you're lucky enough to be at CHA, look for  Donna to see IRL just how fabulous her new yummies are... and say hi from me.  Hopefully next year I'll be able to say hi myself!!  Thanks for stopping in again today, see you soon!

"A Captured Moment" Layout by ~ Mistra Hoolahan

Hi lovelies... it's been a while I know, life tends to run away with me these days, or is it it runs away and leaves me behind LOL!  Either way, getting my groove on has proven a little harder.  However this weekend I was able to slot away some "don't have to do nothing you don't wanna" time and I found I got my Girlie Grunge happening! Yayyyy!

This layout features myself with a fabulous woman I have been friends with for years.  We met in an online forum, and then shortly afterwards in real life.  We used to spend lots of time together, and these days not so much... but we're still good friends, and she's one of the few people I trust with all my heart.  She's funny and silly and real... and true.  Love you Dizz!

I've cut some petals with Donna's Rose Creations Die from Spellbinders to create my Worn Roses.

The pale pink one above was cut using just white cardstock and then inked with Chiffon Mix'd Media Inx from Clearsnap.  The brown one below was cut from some paper from Donna's Natural Beauty Collection and it too was inked, this time with some Truffle Mix'd Media Inx.

I love textiles on my work, the butterfly below was cut from Canvas using Donna's Wonderful Wings die by Spellbinders.  I then created a pool of colour using Chiffon Mix'd Media Inx ReInker and water, and dipped the butterflies in randomly so they weren't coloured all over.

Lastly, the part I love so much... I added Twinkle Dust Glitter to the flowers and butterflies.  I love glitter, it would be rare to see me not covered in it after a scrappy weekend!  I usually add the glitter right near the end, no idea why this works for me.  Clearsnap's Glue Gloss makes it easy, just touch the gloss where you want the glitter, sprinkle the glitter and it's done!

Thanks for stopping by today, I hope to see you again soon!

Butterfly Trinket Box by ~ Tracey Sabella

Hi everyone!! It's Tracey back to share a trinket box I've altered using lots of Donna's fabulous girlie grunge products combining textured mixed media and glittered handcrafted flowers and butterflies. I'm always excited to work with her products with the wide variety of looks I can achieve.

Butterfly Trinket Box

Tips and Techniques
I've created this sweet rose using the three smallest dies in Donna's Spellbinder Rose Creations die set. The mini roses are created from mulberry paper cut with Bitty Blossoms dies. I painted the corrugated flourishes then rubbed with Clearsnap Mix'd Media Inx. The flowers and flourishes were brushed with glue and sprinkled with Donna's Clearsnap Sugar Shimmer Twinkle Dust Glitter.

Box Front
The handcrafted butterflies are cut from cardstock with a Spellbinders Wonderful Wings die and glittered with Pralines and Cream Twinkle Dust Glitter. My Twinkling Butterfly Tutorial can be found HERE.

The hinges are brushed with a mixture of white and gold alcohol ink to distress.

Box Back
I started by removing the hinges and painting this unfinished wood box with a coat of white gesso. I recently received a box of goodies package with pearlized tissue paper. I brushed sections of the box with Mod Podge and applied crinkled pieces of tissue paper. I then applied a second coat of tissue paper in the same way for lots of texture. (I first covered the glass with painter's tape.)

Side One
I used Donna's Art Gone Wild Vine Stamp randomly around the entire box with her Mix'd Media Inx CHOX in Pomegranate. I was sure to stamp across the lid and around corners with the design for a cohesive look. Because I knew I would be applying mist over the stamping, I used CHOX ink because it does not react with water once dry, and I would be adding mist over the stamping.

Next I used several stencils with gold modeling cream. I heat set until the modeling cream bubbled and popped for added texture.

Side Two
My next step was to apply Donna's River Mossy Clearsnap Smooch Spritz. I spritzed a couple sprays of Smooch onto my craft mat along with a couple spritzes of water. I picked it up with an eyedropper to apply to the box. I squeezed on mist, spritzed on a little more water, then moved the box around to spread the mist. I heat set to dry then moved on to the next section. I wanted some of the gorgeous pearlized tissue paper to show through, so only covered about 2/3 of the box with mist. I just love how the mist settled into the crevices to highlight the peaks and valleys of the texture.

Finally, I randomly squeezed on glossy accents and sprinkled with pearlized seed beads, one section at a time.

Butterfly Birthday Card by ~ Tracey Sabella

Hi, it's Tracey here to share a mixed media birthday card I created filled with Donna's amazing products.

Tips and Techniques
I just adore creating with Donna's Spellbinders dies. Here I've used the large and medium Bitty Blossoms dies and The lavender flower is cut from white cardstock using the number 3 die from her Rose Creations set. (I number the dies from smallest to largest.) I misted the layers with Mixed Berries Smooch Spritz and crinkled. When dry, I offset the petals, adhered and added stamen from my stash. I found the berry sprigs on clearance. Of course they were the wrong color, so I painted them with white gesso, and when dry, rubbed them with Wisteria Mix'd Media Ink.

Here's a side view of the bottom corner. I also added some tiny pre-made roses, which I brushed with Smooch Spritz. The flourishes are cut on my Cameo Silhouette.

Donna's Spellbinders Wonderful Wings die set has gorgeous butterflies with coordinating backgrounds for each including this beauty. I cut the background from white canvas, fraying the edges. The delicate butterfly is cut from white cardstock, spritzed with Mixed Berries Smooch Spritz and edged with her Mixed Berries Twinkle Dust Glitter. The antennae are created with white wrapped wire.

The center of course is another Bitty Blossom flower. I've added chunky glass glitter to the center. Donna has just posted a fabulous video tutorial showing how easy it is to create her Bitty Blossoms. You can view it HERE.

The background is created with a small brick stencil using light molding paste. While the molding paste is still wet, I sprinkled lightly with Jasmine Mix'd Media Inx Embossing Powder and heat set. I then stenciled the doily in the top corner with more molding paste. I spritzed with Mixed Berries Smooch Spritz, focusing around the butterfly, clusters, and doily. The edges are distressed with Donna's Zutter Distrezz-it-All.

The birthday sentiment is simply printed on velum and adhered with a decorative brad. The vellum edges are dry brushed with gesso.

Thanks for stopping by today!
