Masculine Mixed Media Card with Faux Metal Gears by Tracey Sabella

Hi everyone! It's Tracey back to share a masculine card featuring Donna's NEW Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® Pigment Powders along with her Spellbinders® Sprightly Sprocket Dies.

It's been a while since I created a masculine project, so I had a lot of fun creating faux metal gears for this card.

Tips and Techniques
I cut these gears from black cardstock with Donna's Spellbinders® Sprightly Sprocket Dies.

I layered several colors of Donna's Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® Pigment Powders onto the diecut gears. I started out by mixed brown pigment powder into Matte Medium to create metallic paint and brushed it across all of the gears. Then I made more "paint" blending blue, gold, and brown for a patina effect. I used my finger to dab it randomly across the largest and smallest of the gears. Finally, I created copper "paint" with wine, gold, and brown Pigment Powders to rub across the three remaining dies. I rubbed small amounts of copper across the blue gears, and a little patina on one of the copper gears.

I embellished this largest gear with copper eyelets and a Prima piece that fits perfectly into the center.

Here's a close-up of this trio of gears.

I mixed up Donna's NEW Silver Pigment Powder into paint to rub around the edges of the card and across the outer black border to soften it.

Rather than including a traditional birthday greeting, I used this encouraging metal sentiment and stamped a birthday verse on the inside of the card. I grunged up the metal with the patina and silver Pigment Powder "paints" left on my craft mat. I attached the piece with Donna's NEW Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® Natural Girlie Grunge Twine.

I stamped across the bottom using Donna's Clearsnap® Truffle Mix'd Media Inx.

I layered a few strips of Donna's NEW Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® Girlie Grunge Tissue tape behind the gears and rubbed them with Silver Pigment Powder "paint."

I hope you've been inspired to create some faux metal elements with
Donna's fabulous Pigment Powders for your next project!

~ Blessings ~
Tracey
