HKC- Love One Another by ~Donna

Hello my peeps! One of the many benefits of me participating in the "Take Me Deeper" challenge on the "His Kingdom Come" site is that I have a lot more regular posts than I've had in the past! The 8x10 canvas below is my project for this week's bible verse, John 13:34-35 and is one of my favorite to date even though it is a really simple design.

This canvas was one that I had started but had made a mistake on so I set it aside. After I had removed a heart that I had adhered to the painted canvas the glue reacted with the paint and made the crackle texture once it dried. I gave it to my daughter to play with and she added the 3 other hearts but left it half way done so I went back in and added the outline, shading, the words and the edging. Maybe I like it so much because it was a joint effort between me and my daughter and we've never done anything like that before. She has, however, claimed this canvas as hers since she worked on it with me... LOL!

I mostly used Liquitex Basics acrylic paint for this canvas. I added watercolor pencils mixed with Beacon's Fast Finish Decoupage around the hearts for shading. I used my Mix'd Media Inx CHOX around the edge of the canvas to give it that distressed/vintage look.

Here are some close ups:

Beacon Adhesives - Fast Finish Decoupage

Thanks for Stopping by!!! Smooches ~D~

  1. I love this canvas too. Simple but right to the point. And various techniques. I love that you worked on it with your daughter. I rarely do with mine, when LOVE it when it happens!

    1. Thanks Ms. Lucie! This is the first time we've done a collaboration. We craft and play together but we've never worked on the same project. It made it very special! :)

  2. Gorgeous. Love the texture and the way you broke up the letters but it still flows.
