Hello my peeps! I was able to crank out another art journal page while my grand son was taking a nap the other day! I was happily surprised at how quickly this came together. I LOOOOVE the texture... and it didn't take many steps to get all this texture either! Here are some quick step outs for you to see my process. Enjoy!!!
The quote says "Love is not a feeling it's a choice... choose love today."
And here are a few step out photos:
I started with a gessoed background then put a pretty thick layer of Flexible Modeling Paste over the majority of the page.
I wet a crocheted doily that I use for texture (that is why it's all colorful) and pressed it into the paste while the paste was wet.
I moved the doily down to the corner where the first press didn't reach and squished it down there too. You need to THOROUGHLY dry the modeling paste which will take a bit of time. It actually adds a cool look to the texture if you allow the paste to bubble up when you dry it. You don't want your carefully squished texture to get smooshed away because you got impatient and started working on it too soon. It's not like I'm speaking from experience or anything on that... LOL!
Once the background texture was dry I lightly rubbed my Honey Mix'd Media Inx over the top.
I misted the page with water to blend the Inx.
While it was still wet I spritz and flicked several colors of Smooch Spritz onto the background.
I added a bit more water so the flicks were really runny.
Then I tilted the book so it was sitting vertically and the Spritz would drip.
I added a quote from Donna Salazar (a very wise woman who has been married to her high school sweetie for 25 years so she knows what she is talking about because sometimes our men aren't acting very lovable... KWIM?) using my Mix'd Media Inx CHOX because I wanted the words to dry quickly.
I LOVE all that yummy texture!!!
I cut out a canvas heart then spritzed it with Holly Berries Smooch Spritz and decoupaged it to the page. I added some highlights with paint and a bit of Truffle MMI around the outside of the heart... just cuz I like it. ;)
You can really see the detail of the center of the doily in this photo.

I always love your soft whimszy colors sweet Donna. YES...you are a wise young lady!!!! love the saying. I am currently enjoying my first little Grandson. he is only 2 weeks old. Just adorable. Once I (so sadly) leave Austin and fly home to Prescott, I will hopefully get to play and make some fun journal pages to highlight this wonderful little person in our lives. Thanks always for your inspiration. I also enjoy the pics of your beautiful Grandson. They are so prescious!!!
