Big Secret Revealed!!!

Hello my peeps! So you may have noticed Mistra's post yesterday using "NEW" product and you may be completely confused because I have been so good about keeping this secret that you didn't even know that there was a secret being kept! Normally I will drop hints or tell you that I've got something a brewin' but I said not a word! But now that the cat is out of the bag I can begin showing you all the cool new products that I have!!!

My new product line is with Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L. And we're not talking just adhesives,.. We're talking pigments, denim, ribbons and lace... As well as some awesome new adhesives. Over the next couple of days the gals on the team will be posting projects using the new stuff so keep coming back to see what we're all creating.
Here is my first mixed media canvas using the new products:

I've used my new Pigment Powders, Lace Ribbons, E-Z Star Runner, and Canvas Ribbons on this.

The little copper stars are from my E-Z Star Runner, with my Mix'd Media Inx Leather embossing powder.

I stamped onto the Canvas Ribbon with my Mix'd Media Inx CHOX then cut out the words, adhered them to the canvas and added Fast Finish Decoupage mixed with my Brown Pigment Powder around the edges.

The Gold Pigment Powder is mixed with Fast Finish Decoupage and is peeking out from behind the cheesecloth and you can see the Brown Pigment Powder mixed with Fast Finish Decoupage dripping down the side.
You can see more Pigment Powder and my E-Z Star Runner in this photo.

The Creative Team girlies will be posting projects that they've made on the blog so you'll have a new post each day of the show! I'll post pictures from the show on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.

Cre8time with Donna

Hello my peeps! I have been making sure to carve out some time for creating blog posts, creating new e-Classes for the Girlie Grunge site and even to Cre8time for ME! Taking time for yourself is soooo important. My Bestie has her masters in Clinical Psycology and even she forgets that she needs to make sure to do some "self care" each week. So my "Me" time this week was to do an art journal page and I used the new journal that I made for my True Scrap 6 class. It kinda ended up looking like a scrapbook page but I really like it anyway.

I have some pics for you below as well as some step by step photos... ENJOY!!!

I practice my techniques on bits of vintage book pages cut into circles and I keep them on hand in case I can use them on something cool. In this case, I painted the pages with white acrylic paint then adhered the circles to the wet paint. I then "blobbed" (that is my "technical term"... LOL) some decoupage medium onto the page and blended it with a brush.

You will want to make sure that anything that covers where the pages connect is pressed into the groove to make the pages easier to turn.

I "dribbled" (again another of my "technical terms"... LOL) some of my Sea Breeze Smooch Spritz over the wet paint and decoupage medium.

I misted the page with a generous amount of water...

Then I tilted the page so it was sitting vertically on my table and the drips could run freely down the page.

Again... while the mediums were still wet I used a heat gun to dry the drips to create a crackle where the different mediums were blending. This is one of my FAVORITE things about creating mixed media pieces.

This is a close up of the Smooch Spritz crackling over the paint.

Here is another close up of the crackling Smooch Spritz.

I added a Silhouette die cut, UmWow Studio chippies, and 3L Scrapbook Adhesives kraft photo corners around my photo.

I stapled some paper flowers to the edges that were made using my Spellbinders Carnation Creation and Grand Peonies dies and Graphic 45 papers.

I spritzed some Wood Stain Smooch Spritz into a bowl and used the cap to the large glass Spritz bottles from Clearsnap as my applicator.

I added circles randomly across the page.

I did the same with the Caramel Latte Smooch Spritz.

I dried the circles with my heat gun.

I added bits of torn paper, tags, book pages, etc... A lot of these bits were extras left over from other projects that were still sitting on my table and they had glitter, decoupage medium, Inx or CHOX already on them.

And here is the finished page in good lighting.

Here is a close up of some of the detail... UmWow chippies, Smooch Spritz circles, crackled background, 3L Scrapbook Adhesives photo corner...

Here is a close up of more of the background showing the torn papers, Spellbinder's flower, and a teeny tiny UmWow Studio heart.

This is a good close up of the crackled background, Silhouette die cut, and one of my technique practice circles.

And here is the bottom right corner showing more crackle, the Spritz circles, more torn paper bits, the Spellbinder's flower, and another UmWow Studio chippie.

New $5 e-Class by ~Donna

Hello my peeps! I have a long standing tradition of giving my family handmade crafty things for their birthdays. I was going to create a canvas for my baby sister's birthday but I made her one last year. So while my mom and I were talking she gave me the idea of making a home decor cross (both my sis and I have a wall with lots of crosses). I started to get excited about the cross and knew that it would be an awesome class too... so as I made her present I took step by step pictures and Voila! Now there is a new $5 e-Class on the Girlie Grunge site!

Here are some pictures of the finished cross (and I've got a few of the step by step photos below as well).

In the e-Class you get a narrated presentation as well as a downloadable and very detailed instructional pdf. You will learn how to completely assemble the cross from flat pieces of cardboard and kraft paper, how to customize paint color, how to get a crackle finish, how to add touches of color to the edges with CHOX, and how to add the twine, beads and embellies.
Below are the step by step photos for adding touches of color to the edges of the cross. These steps are inside the class as well but I'm just giving you a sneak peek. ;)

I'm using my Driftwood, Pomegranate, and Midnight Mix'd Media Inx CHOX.

I rubbed the Driftwood CHOX pad directly onto the edges of the cross.

You have a very short time window for blending the CHOX because they dry much faster than the original Mix'd Media Inx so you may want to do a small section at a time. You can blend with a foam blender or you can use your hand... like me.

You always want to add color from the lightest color to the darkest. The next color I added was Pomegranate. I rubbed the pad along the edge then blended with my hand.

One of the awesome things that CHOX will do is become blendable again once you add more (if you are using them on a painted or semi-porous surface). So if you have an area with CHOX that you think is too dark, you can use the lighter CHOX to tone it down. It is best to use a foam blender to do this or to touch your fingers to the pad then to the project rather than contaminate your lighter pad with the darker CHOX.
(look at the long side on the top right in the last two photos to see how the Pomegranate was toned down by the Driftwood)

I finished the edges with Midnight CHOX. I wanted the edges to be pretty dark but not overwhelm the other colors so I barely touched the edges with the CHOX pad and blended only a tiny bit.

If you want to learn how to create this cross start to finish the e-Class is ONLY $5!
You can find more info on the Girlie Grunge site HERE.

Product used for the technique above:
Colorbox
Mix'd Media Inx CHOX - Driftwood, Pomegranate, Midnight

On a different note... I'm going to be doing a LIVE interview on Spreecast with Lain Ehmann on Thursday, October 9th at 12:00 PM Pacific to talk about our upcoming True Scrap 6 event later this month. It is a totally interactive video interview so you will get to see my dorky facial expressions and hear my unedited answers to your questions... How I often dream of having the ability to edit my live conversations so I don't sound like such a dork.
Anyway, it will be totally FUN and I hope you can join us!!!
