Hi there, everyone! Vivian Keh here with a video tutorial that I've prepared as part of my term as a guest designer with Donna Salazar Designs. Before I begin, maybe you'd like to know a little bit about me? I am an avid gardener and naturalist. Half my fb page posts are pix of things growing in the garden lol! When not in my studio crafting or writing for the theater, I am in the back with my beloved pooches, starting seeds, cultivating the soil and enjoying the harvest of homegrown food. In my work with paper, I am a huge lover of grunge, and I have a few techniques which I'd like to share with you today that help me create projects in my signature "organic grunge," style. which you may have seen in the July/August 2013 issue of The Stamper's Sampler! This is the layout which I feature in today's video.
A detail of my hot glue effects created with Mix'd Media Inx and SMOOCH Spritz.
Below, some more detail of the use of Donna's stencil in conjunction with texture paste, as well as Donna's alphas for the title, which I've altered simply with a pat of pigment ink.
As this project is somewhat dark, I decided to include a light and airy organza for contrast.
The photo was simply stapled to some corrugate from Want2Scrap, and a handmade tag was nestled in between the two pieces. Below is a detail of the tag stamped with Donna's Indigo Mix'd Media Inx. On top of that, I heat embossed using a pattern inked through her stencil.
Here's my video tutorial: CLICK HERE Hope you enjoy it!
Thanks so much for watching, and by all means, please visit me on my blog if you'd like to see more!

ReplyDeleteI love Donna Salazar's work and couldn't wait to see what you would do here! Bravo! You always bring out perspectives I would not otherwise see in a design style or palette, while holding true to the "flavor" of the original. As others have noted, I am in awe of your take on mixed media techniques and how naturally they flow from your vision. Great tutorial, as usual!
